4/09 Baby L.’s 1rst Birthday!!! πŸ˜€
Where did this past year go???? I’m flabbergasted…just flabbergasted. She’s so sweet and every one of us loves her so much! Seven children is not too many…it’s just not. I can’t imagine not having her in our family. To have stopped at four, like we in our naiveté originally talked of, it just wouldn’t have been right. I had always wanted a large family but my dh had never really given it much thought so we came to a compromise…both hesitatingly though as that didn’t seem quite right. I’m oh so thankful for what we learned together and for these three more children (so far)!

4/15 1 (L) Yay!! I’m flabbergasted. What is it – a Tax Day gift??? πŸ™„

4/18 1 (L) Guess I was right about them laying in a couple of weeks after I butchered Fluff.

Total = 2 *whoopee* (Tongue firmly in cheek.)

4/15 L.’s 4th tooth! Right front incisor.

4/29 L.’s 5th tooth! Left upper lateral incisor.

I have decided not to put my workouts in my updates here but have revived my workout blog. Link is to the right.

4/23 G & G Baker arrived in the evening to celebrate the two birthdays we had this month. They stayed until the 25th.

4/13 & 14 W. left w/ all the childen (except baby) about 4:15pm to go to Seward. I was abondoned stayed at home to work on tax stuff. πŸ˜› They played around “the property” for a few hours then drove to Soldotna to visit/stay the night w/ my parents and were there for the next couple of days as well. They got back around 4pm on the 15th.

4/02 60°F Really, no kidding…April Fool’s Day was yesterday. πŸ˜‰ It didn’t last though. Mid-afternoon the temp dropped to the hi 40s.

4/05 – 06 Snow = 10″

4/09 Snow = 6″

4/15 Snow = 2″

4/21 64 ° F in the sun!! *whoop* πŸ˜€

4/23 64 ° F in the sun!! The children were so excited they couldn’t resist setting up the kiddy pool and getting in! What could I do except say, “Go for it!” πŸ˜‰

4/25 Snow = 16 ½ ” !! **aacckk** Weren’t the children just swimming a couple of days ago??!!

4/26 Snow = &#189″

Total Snow = 35″ Nearly a whole yard this month…3 ft…just before spring. *sigh*

We caught some photos of a wascally backyard visitor!

Until next time,

Catch Up Post

Hi! Still around…it’s just been a busy week. Mostly updating our business site during my free/computer time. Stop in and check out the changes and get yourself a great kitchen tool at the same time! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜‰

We had a couple of snowstorms too that brought about 3ft. of snow! Oh wee. πŸ™„ Where, oh where, is Spring?! Actually, this is quite typical and quite expected…but, after the wonderful weather the week before and seeing so much of the snow disappear, it’s always a little disappointing when does indeed happen.

And, Baby L. had her 1rst Birthday two days ago!! We haven’t “officially” celebrated yet so no picture but we sang to her and made comments to her about it all day so she knew it was a special day. πŸ™‚ We’re planning on celebrating this weekend officially but pictures probably won’t be posted until I do a “month in review” type post. I’m hoping to get caught up with those soon so maybe the wait won’t be too long for those interested. πŸ˜‰

Anyhow, those were the highlights. Otherwise, just normal busyness type stuff…you know, homeschool, Mt. Never-rest, dishes, vacuuming, etc., etc.

‘Til next time…

3/12 Whadaya know…an egg! 1 (L) Guess I was right with my prediction when I butchered Fluff – that they were a couple weeks away from starting up again. More guilt…if I hadn’t killed her we would have had that many more eggs. But, no, because she was faster than we were in getting to them although they are right in the garage and we are out there the split second their “boasting calls” are made. Daughter B. even said that she knew one of the other hens was going to lay and she stayed there to watch and make sure she got the egg first but Fluff just hung around the back end of the other chicken waiting and waiting too. If she hadn’t been there, it would have been pounced on. So, yes, I’ll quit beating myself up. Great farmer I’d make huh?! πŸ˜‰ Raised killing meat for the family and yet one itty-bitty chicken made me feel remorseful. *sheesh*

3/14 1 (L)

3/16 1 (L)

3/21 1 (L)

Total egg count = 4 πŸ˜›

3/03 Baby L.’s third tooth is finally in! (Right top lateral incisor.)

When P. is playing Peekaboo with L., she says, “Where is you?” instead of “Where is Leah?” So cute! ♥ ♥ They make me melt! πŸ™‚

3/23 Resurrection Sunday – spent with church family!

3/26 Q.’s 5th Birthday! We love ya guy! Thanks for the great hugs! I thank God for you every day!

I can’t believe it…I really can’t. My baby Q. has definitely moved out of his baby/toddler stage and it staggers me how fast my family is growing up. πŸ˜•

I am so pathetically out of shape. (Hard to believe I was a dancer for ½ my life. πŸ˜› ) Exercise has come in fits and starts around here. I really must do better. I haven’t felt as well after L.’s birth this past year…just in general, nothing specific that I can put my finger on really. Mostly age I suppose…although, I know there are many women older than I in much better shape. I really need to track what I do and have some accountability so here goes (starting from scratch once again):

3/31 50 crunches, 50 reverse crunches, various stretching

I’m thinking of transferring all my previous posts from my workout blog over here too as maintaining more than one blog is difficult during this stage of life. I’d update my stats in the sidebar too but I don’t have a scale. Just go by how my clothes fit…

3/16 First “rock climbing” of the year at our favorite spot around the Arm!

3/04 42°F! Another unusually warm day…feels so nice. πŸ™‚ There was some wind and clouds with occasional flakes but it was nice for the children to have some warmer temps outside.

3/05 Temp dropped again to 33°F. Snowed 3″. Then, went up to 36°F and got windy. Preparing for a Chinook maybe?

3/06 Wow! 56°F and sun!! I know it won’t last of course but I’m definitely enjoying it! πŸ˜€

3/07 Fun while it lasted… Back down to 32°F and snow. 4 ” to be exact. πŸ˜› Granted, it’s not really piling up with the melting spurts we’ve had.

3/10 46°F It’s nice again…but I’m actually getting tired of the yo-yoing temps.

3/11 Snow (just a dusting).

3/12 Snow 2″.

3/17 47°F

3/25 53°F

3/26 48°F I know this is just the lull before the storm… It always dumps on us in April. *sigh*

3/27 46°F

Total snow = 9″ (+ a little)

3/16 Saw our neighborhood coyote in the early evening!

2/21 Baby L. climbed the steps in cabin @ T.’s parent’s house all by herself!
2/23 Baby L. climbed up onto couch/Mommy’s lap by herself! I think a climbing phase has begun. πŸ˜‰

Went for a 2 week visit to T.’s parents. (late pm 17th to late pm 29th)

2/11 Snow = 5 ”
2/14 Snow = ¼ ”
2/16 – 2/17 Snow (forgot to measure)
2/18 42°F!! with some sprinkles. (visiting T.’s parents)
2/19 42°F!! with rain. (visiting T.’s parents)
2/20 Temp has dropped to 40°F. (visiting T.’s parents)

Monthly Accumulation = 5 – 6″ (or so)

While at my parent’s visiting, I butchered our chicken Fluff on 2/26. She had become an egg eater. 😦 (We brought the chickens with us as we didn’t have anyone to care for them while we were gone. Thankfully, we only had three and they fit just fine in a large pet carrier in the back of the ‘Burban. Wrapped securely with a blanket, there was no smell. πŸ™‚ ) My father skinned her out for me while I watched with the children. (It’s been a while since I’ve skinned a spruce hen or anything. πŸ˜‰ ) It was interesting the to see the eggs lined up for development. There were 4 yolks – 1 about the size of a salmon egg, 1 the size of a large pea, 1 the size of a very large berry and 1 the size of a grape. It was also disappointing to see them because the chickens hadn’t been laying for a while and this proved they would be starting in a couple of weeks or so. 😦 Anyhow, not thinking of her age, I baked her the next day. She was approx. a 3lb. bird. The lovely mix of garlic, rosemary, thyme and summer savory did not make her very edible though – although she smelled wonderful! So, the day after that, I stewed her. She was one tough bird but she eventually made a lovely chicken noodle soup! πŸ˜‰ My guilt continues…although I know I was justified. πŸ˜•

12/20 1 (M) – Whoa! Whadaya know?! An egg! Almost as exciting as the very first time it happened… πŸ˜‰ Unfortunately, we were too late in discovering it…and it was eaten! 😦

12/23 1 (M) We were quicker this time and the egg is ok. πŸ™‚

12/25 1 (M) Eaten again!! What’s going on?!?

White Christmas…?

After several cycles of warm/cold weather patterns in which we would receive snow and then practically all of it would melt, it finally looks like a winter wonderland outside again! We received approx. 2″ of snow yesterday…will it last this time? A white Christmas would definitely be nice! πŸ™‚

See a previous entry from a few weeks ago and you’ll know what it looks like out my kitchen window this morning…again. πŸ˜‰

The children were so excited and happy to get outside to sled again too! My 2yo is so sweet – she had so much fun yesterday she kept saying, “You snow Mommy! You outside snow! You boots? You suit? (wanting to get them for me to put on)” I really hated to turn her down but the baby needed nursing and a nap. *sigh* For the first time in a long time, I really felt like playing in the snow! Aah, the enthusiasm of children. πŸ™‚ Today, if I can plan and execute things just right, I will take the opportunity I missed yesterday… How can I resist that cute pink Bubble with the chubby rosy cheeks all squished up by her hood?! πŸ˜‰
